PitchMen LiveBlog - Grater Education - The Grater Plater

Published by The Network at 11:16 am under Billy Mays, Pitchmen, anthony sullivan

As Seen on TV Network is the place to be read and experience another episode of Discovery Channel’s “PitchMen,” and tonight’s Episode, “Grater Education.” So far as we can gather from the Discovery Channel website, Billy and Sully will be working with the “Grater Plater” and will, get this, be teaching a class at Princeton University! (This is what I missed out by not getting an Ivy League education)

Product: Grater Plater

Inventor: Jeremy Parker

HERE WE GO:

Billy n Sully looked through the pitches and pick the Grater Plater. Grater Plater’s Jeremy Parker started when he was 9, pitching at shows including meeting Billy Mays during High School. He became, “Chef Jeremy” on the Home Shopping channel but having to fight cancer lost him his savings and his job. Now he’s trying to come back.

YouTube video of Grater Plater:

The Grater Plater helps keep in the juices n fibers from spices like ginger. Jeremy got the product from a friend and started pitching them in trade shows. Billy and Sully love the product. Billy wants to get the price point 2 for 1 at $14.99.  It will come down to whether or not the Grater Plater can still be handmade in France or wiill have to be made to China.

Billy Mays will be doing a shoot for Mighty Putty Wood. His shoot will be aboard the famous HMS Bounty, the boat used in movies from “Mutiny on the Bounty” to “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

The Wow shot for Might Putty Wood was pulling the HMS Bounty with a Tug Boat.

Comercial break :11 after

Mutiny on the Bounty is what Billy Mays is all about. Nothing like watching the best pitchmen dangling from a swing seat. No one figured out how to keep his seat stablized, not to mention worrying about the sun and glare off the water. And now he has to get the line UST right.

“IT has the strength to pull the HSM Bounty…” DOH or “Her Majesty’s Bounty.”

Is that voice squeeking I hear? Billy’s hitting puberty. “Mighty Pub’s doing his job. Now I have to do my job.” Congrats, that’s the power of Mighty Putty Wood.

Billy Mays is being told that he’s going to now be mentioned on the HMS Bounty tour from now on. And now he gets to fire the canons.

Mighty Putty Wood Media Test Results:  Another Huge Winner.

Grater Plater Time:

Sully got some “chefs” to cook for them on his boat so they can test the Grater Plater. The ladies like the grate and serve feature. They chef’s tell Billy and Sully that they’d pay “twenty to thirty dollars.”

Comercial break :22 after

Jeremy Parker started a band with Anthony Sullivan called, “Meet Me at the Pub.” They met by pitching products at a fair in Santa Rosa. Parker is hoping Grater Plater will help him reach his goals.

Professors Sullivan and Mays:  Billy and Sully are going to Princeton University to guest teach in TELEBrands AJ Khubani’s class. The class breaks into small groups and develop a product n come up with the price, place and promotiont. The team with the best commercial get to travel to China with TELEBrands and work on getting their product on TV. Groups designing them.

Billy and Sully like the “Faster Filter” so far.

Commercial break :30 after

They’re doing a commercial shoot for Grater Plater. Anthony Sullivan does one commercial; Billy Mays does the other. They’ll A/B test both commercials to see which product goes nationwide. And the duo are already taking cheap shots at each other.

Now they’re fighting over who came up with the Blue denim shirt idea. They’ll both be wearing the same Billy Mays outfit. “Continuity,” is the reason Sully gives.

“The shirt is starting to take over my being,” - Sully

Wow, they’re taking it serious.

“If you think America is gonna respond more favorable to a an Englishmen than the real pitchmen, Billy Mays, you got another thing comin’.” - Billy

For the closeups, they want Parker to it. He has been officially knighted with the Blue Shirt.

Commercial break :41 after

Editing for the commercials has begun. Billy tried to “influence” the editor to do Billy’s first by giving the editor both dollars.

Sully comes to watch the videos and finds out Billy’s got done first. Proof the value of the dollar still goes a long way. Sully decides to edit the video himself. Sully stays up til at LEAST 5am.

Back to School - Billy n Sully go to meet with the Princeton students again.

Commercial Break :50 after

Billy n Sully looked over the products and chose Faster Filter. The students in the group get to go to China and work on getting a functioning prototype. Instead of forcing the water to the filter, the Faster Filter throws the filter through the water, drastically speeding up filtering time.

“When you go over there, don’t drink the water…unless you have a Faster Filter.” - Billy Mays

Grater Plater test results:  Billy Mays crushed Anthony Sullivan by about 40%. But how well did the product do?

Jeremy Parker goes to the boat to find out. Billy n Sully show him by having one of the deckmaids bring out a bottle of Dom Pérignon. Tests show that the product should sell 3-to-1. Jeremy Parker beat the odds as a cancer survivor, now he’ll have beat the odds by  having what will seem to be a successful product.

“Mutiny on the Bounty is what Billy Mays is all about.”

“IT has the strength to pull the HSM Bounty…” DOH or “Her Majesty’s Bounty.”

He’s got it “all wrong”. The “correct way” to state it is:
His Majesty’s Armed Vessel Bounty (HMAV Bounty).

If, like Billy Mays says ‘Mutiny on the Bounty is what its all about.
The ‘Bounty’ was never a ” DOH or “Her Majesty’s Bounty.”Iit was the Kings ship, King George III of England. Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George had nothing to do whatsoever with any of ‘His Majesty’s’ ships of the Royal Navy.
No ship of those times were ever referred to as ‘Her Majesty’s.

As to the Bounty II replica, that vessel is named HMS Bounty. But even ‘they’ have the name wrong. That’s the problem with Hollywood and the movies.

Hey David Townsend, I’m glad that you found it necessary to critique the vernacular of a reality TV show about Pitchmen.

I’m all for accuracy when it comes to historical documentaries, but this is a show about people pitching products to housewives and retirees.

I mean seriously, you actually felt like you had to come and make a comment about the correct way to state the name of the Bounty? I too have quite an ego about my intelligence, but man, thank god it’s nowhere near as ridiculous as yours.

Then again, here I am bemoaning your moaning, so I guess I’m just as bad as you.

    Wait, no I’m not.

  5. David Townsendon 12 Jun 2009 at 10:14 am

Wow, Wowon! You could not even sign your real name!
A shame people just might know who you really are.

Whether or not this is a show about ‘pitching products to housewives and retirees’ still does not change the fact that using the correct vernacular is common practice when writing about ‘anything.’ A little extra effort in researching before posting is always in order in a situation like this one.

Ego? I’m just stating facts where as it would appear that you have not only an ego, but are very defensive in the process.

It’s reality TV shows and the movies that continually promote inaccuracies regarding ‘history’ such as the piratical seizure of the HMAV Bounty that never set the facts straight or reflect the truths of such histories.

In retaining these ‘mindsets’ such as yourself, no good can become of any of it. Let us see that you too believe in promoting ‘accurate’ historical facts, not misnomers when you see them.

Meanwhile, do not hide behind some fake ID because you are afraid to let the world know who you are because you were not brave enough to face your critics.

Wow, Jeremy! We’re so proud and happy for you! Can’t wait to buy Grater Platers for us and all our friends. Marty and Dinah and Jake and Kayde too! Love from all of us!

  7. Steveon 14 Jun 2009 at 12:10 pm

What a crock! The grater plater is a rip-off of products as Seen Elsewhere, not just on TV. We bought in France. Can’t believe the Pitchmen got scammed by a pretend inventor!

I’m neither a housewife NOR a retiree and I like info-mercial products because every one I have purchased WORKS and has been worth the money. I like Pitchmen, because well, there’s something compelling about Billy Mays shouting about stuff. I also love the “but wait!” part of info-mercials. Thy’re educational entertainment for me, and like I said, I’ve purchased everything from the Topsy Turvy to the Magic Bullet and only had good experiences.
And anyway, when did it become an insult to be a housewife OR a retiree? Sheesh buddy, if you like doing things he hard way, be my guest. Me, I like my Shark knife sharpener and Titan Peeler!

RIPOFF ALERT!! This is a ripoff of what they have been making in China for decades. Sure, this has the high tech grinding area, but essentially its the same concept. Why can’t Americans think of something original? You can get the same for less than $5 in any Chinese housewares store. If they can pitch this as an original design by Jeremy Parker, then they truly are Pitchmen. Just because you see things on TV, it doesn’t make it real.

I absolutely love this product & I’m so happy for Jeremy. The best of luck in all that you do Jeremy. The problem I have is that Billy Mays won that contest & he was picked to be Pitchman for the Grater Plater so why did I just see Sully on the website for this product. When I saw the program the other day & Sully said I just can’t shake this guy I was so angry. He is so overtly jealous of Billy Mays & it shows horribly. I can’t understand why Sully is doing the pitch for Jeremy’s product. I know the family gave permission for to use Billy’s last pitch on the air, so why isn’t his pitch for the grater plater being used. I do not like Sully because of his treatment of Billy over a long period of time & I feel like he just stepped right on his grave by doing this pitch. I’m sorry Jeremy I can’t buy this product with Sully pitching it because I know how much Billy wanted to do it for you.

I think it is funny that many people think that Jeremy is attempting to claim that he invented the grater plater. If you watch the episode he even states that his friend from France introduced him to the product and he thought it was so great that he decided to sell it in the USA. So for Mark and Steve, how about you be less judgmental and not try to ruin Jeremy’s success for a product he thought others would like. Good Luck Jeremy in your success and I hope you stay cancer free.
